Overview
Since 1833, the Convalescent Hospital for Children has served children with chronic conditions requiring long-term hospital care. Convalescent Hospital joined Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center in 1973, and today houses four specialized services:
- The pediatric rehabilitation program offers comprehensive rehabilitation services for children suffering from injury or illness that leaves them with physical and / or cognitive disabilities.
- The transitional care center helps children with complex chronic medical conditions make the transition from hospital to home, and specializes in trach / vent management.
- The Children's Psychiatric Unit provides inpatient and partial hospitalization psychiatric services for children from birth to 12 years of age.
- Adolescent and medical psychiatric services for inpatient and partial psychiatric and psychiatric / medical services are offered for teens 12 through 18 years of age.
