Overview

Children born with head and / or facial abnormalities require care from many specialists. The Craniofacial Center at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center follows children through each stage of treatment, usually beginning after birth and continuing through adolescence.

The Craniofacial Center at Cincinnati Children's is composed of specialists representing:

 

The Craniofacial Center recommends a comprehensive treatment plan that meets the child's health care needs and is suitable to the child and parents. Individual team members --such as the plastic surgeon, ear, nose and throat specialist, and / or geneticist -- may also assist the child's primary care physician in managing the child's craniofacial abnormality.

Craniofacial Center Clinic Hours

The Craniofacial Center clinic hours are held on the first and sometimes second Friday of the month, from 8:00 a.m. to noon. There are also several afternoon clinics offered. Additional Craniofacial Services

Prenatal Counseling

The Genetics clinical nurse specialist and Geneticist meet with parents who are expecting a baby with a craniofacial condition that has been diagnosed by prenatal ultrasound. Parents are counseled about craniofacial management and feeding.

Neonatal Airway Management Team

A team of specialists provides consultation and follow-up for infants hospitalized with airway problems.

Feeding Management

A speech pathologist and clinical nurse specialist work with families on newborn and infant feeding problems.

Obstructive Sleep Apnea Management

The team Pulmonologist evaluates and manages apnea problems identified in Craniofacial Team clinic.
