The Center for Infants and Children with Special Needs at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center provides resources for patients and families living in Kentucky.

Advocacy

Arc of Kentucky is a statewide organization that advocates on behalf of people with mental retardation and related disabilities and their families. The organization supports local chapters providing early intervention programs, services to adults, advocacy, information and referral.
Kentucky Disabilities Coalition is a statewide alliance dedicated to supporting individuals with disabilities.
The Kentucky Legislature helps you identify your Kentucky State Legislators by county and district. After you identify your legislators, you can then email them directly from this web site.
Kentucky legislators and state agencies can provide you with information and assistance about disability issues in your state, as well as assistance with letter writing and other legislative concerns.
Kentucky Protection & Advocacy Services assists citizens of Kentucky who have a disability and are either being denied a right or are being discriminated against because of that disability. Their Kentucky Education Rights Center provides educational advocacy resources and services to families of children with disabilities.
The Point / ARC of Northern Kentucky provides advocacy, residential, employment and social opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Autism Society of America provides information and support. You can find your local chapter in Kentucky.
Autism Sociey of the Bluegrass provides information and support for families and professionals in central Kentucky.
Autism Society of Kentuckiana is dedicated to autism advocacy, awareness and support of individuals with autism, their families and professionals in the Louisville area.
DisabilityResources.org provides information and resources in Kentucky to help support independent living. Links to organizations are available on a variety of topics including advocacy, legal rights, aging, financial assistance, health insurance and specific disabilities.

Education

Kentucky Department of Education: Division of Exceptional Services has information on special education.
Kentucky First Steps oversees early intervention services for children from birth to age 3 who have a developmental delay or a particular medical condition that is known to cause a developmental delay. Contact information for each district is provided.

Financial Assistance

Northern Kentucky Community Action Commission provides a variety of emergency assistance with utility bills, prescription help, food, clothing, shelter and day care.
Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services provides a variety of services and supports including:
- Commission for Children with Special Health Care Needs (CCSHCN)
- Division of Mental Retardation
- Hart-Supported Living Grant can provide financial support for individuals with disabilities to live in and participate in their communities.
