Dentistry and Orthodontics

Strengths

The Division of Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center has many strengths:

  • A nationally recognized residency program in Pediatric Dentistry
  • A nationally recognized Craniofacial Team caring for children and young adults; with abnormalities of the head, face, and mouth
  • Comprehensive dental and orthodontic care for patients with complex medical problems
  • Use of sedation and general anesthesia for young and apprehensive patients
  • 38,000 projected patient visits for 2004
  • 24-hour emergency service

Special Patient Care

Children and teens with special medical, physical, and mental conditions are seen at all our locations. We care for patients who are in wheelchairs; are mentally challenged; have bleeding problems, cancer, cardiac conditions, seizure disorders, pulmonary diseases, or any other condition that requires the resources of a major medical center.

24-Hour Emergency Care

Patients needing immediate emergency dental care may contact us during regular weekday business hours at 513-636-4641. If an emergency occurs after hours or on weekends, call 513-636-4200 and ask to speak with the dentist on-call.

Sedation and General Anesthesia Services

For some patients, accepting care is easier if their anxiety is lessened through the use of calming medications. Other patients are best cared for when they are completely asleep in a hospital operating room. After seeing a patient, we will offer our recommendations on how best to provide the needed care.
