Comprehensive Dialysis Care

Nationally-Recognized Expertise, Top Outcomes

Cincinnati Children’s is home to a Top 10 nephrology program. Our specialists care for children with complex kidney disease, including those who need dialysis early in life.
We work closely with programs across the hospital, including the NICU, PICU and transplant services. This helps ensure your child gets the right care at the right time.

Advanced Dialysis For All Ages

We offer dialysis for infants, children and teens using child-sized equipment and specialized methods. Each treatment is adjusted to your child’s size and needs.
We provide outpatient dialysis six days a week and inpatient dialysis 24/7. Your child always has access to expert care.

Team-Based, Personalized Care

Dialysis care can be complex. That’s why your child is supported by a team of experts from many areas, working together to create one clear plan.

Your care team may include nephrologists, dialysis-trained nurses and technicians, dietitians, psychologists, social workers, transplant surgeons, child-life specialists and hospital-based teachers. This coordinated approach improves communication, reduces stress, and keeps families informed throughout treatment.

Convenient, Coordinated Services

Our Dialysis Unit is located at our Burnet Campus. This allows streamlined scheduling and quick access to labs, imaging, surgical or other specialty consultations often during a single visit.

Research That Improves Care Today

Our dialysis program is grounded in research. Several of our specialists are internationally recognized for implementing dialysis machines designed for even the smallest patients. We also study new medications and approaches to better manage chronic and end-stage kidney disease, helping children receive the most up to date care available.

Ongoing Family Support

Children often need dialysis several times each week. Seeing familiar providers helps them feel more at ease. Your child will work with many of the same doctors and nurses throughout their treatment.

Before dialysis begins, we explain your child’s condition in clear, simple terms. We answer questions, help you understand care options and connect you with support services, including pediatric psychologists, social workers, and Child Life specialists.

We invest in building long-term relationships with every family that comes to us for care. From your child’s first visit to their post-transplant rehabilitation, you can count on our dedicated team of providers to deliver seamless, sophisticated services. The entire time your child is with us, we’re here for you.
