Why Choose Us?
Working together as a multidisciplinary team, our clinicians have expertise in the area of developmental and behavioral pediatrics to better understand the strengths and needs of each child we assess and treat. Utilizing a variety of treatment techniques, our aim is to maximize your child's communication skills at home, school and within the community.
Specialized groups or programs have been developed to serve the needs of our children with developmental or behavioral challenges:
- Augmentative Communication Device group – This group is for school-age children who use an augmentative communication device. It focuses on increasing understanding and use of new vocabulary and learning to use the communication device in a social setting.
- Narrative language group – This program is offered in the Jane and Richard Thomas Center for Down Syndrome for children ages 11 to 14 years old with Down syndrome. It uses a language / literacy approach framework to improve communication in a “book club” format.
- Pragmatic / Social Skill Development group – This group is for school-aged children and adolescents with language impairments who have difficulties with peer interactions at home, in the community, or at school.
- Toddler talk – This is a family-centered language treatment group for children 18 to 36 months old, with a focus on teaching parents how to encourage early communication skills.
- Parent Infant Nuturing Group (PING)
