Current Initiatives / Projects
The University of Cincinnati (UC) University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD) at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center began several initiatives on July 1, 2007.
Initiative | Objectives |
| Adult Medicine Fellowship | To develop and implement a one-year model fellowship curriculum in the comprehensive care of people with developmental disabilities for physicians in adult medicine |
| Deaf Adolescent Health Literacy | To develop and implement a model approach to improve deaf adolescents' health literacy and knowledge of their personal health histories |
| Early Identification and Support of Young Children | To develop and implement a model community outreach approach for parents, childcare providers and public libraries which will result in increase community capacity for early identification and support of young children with developmental and behavioral problems |
| Emergency Preparedness | To facilitate community efforts to ensure people with disabilities are included in a community-wide emergency planning process and that the needs of people with disabilities will be met in emergency situations |
| Fitness Across the Lifespan | To increase the capacity of community health, fitness and recreational programs / activities to address the health and fitness needs of children, adolescents and adults with developmental disabilities |
| IEP Guideline Development | To develop clear and concise guidelines / key questions for making Individual Education Plan (IEP) adaptations for diverse learning styles of children with DD which will result in parents being prepared, fully participating partners in their child's IEP development |
