Drugs

The Drug and Poison Information Center (DPIC), located at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, provides timely information about drugs and related issues.

Not everyone goes to a rave for the drugs, they may be just looking for a refuge from the rules, but many draw their energy for these all night parties from the drugs that are prevalent.

In a venue held in an unlawful setting, there is open, flagrant selling and use of drugs. The drug selling still occurs in "lawful" settings, but is done in a more covert manner.

There is a veritable cornucopia of drugs available and consumed at raves, but the most popular drug is always the same: ecstasy (MDMA) - named for the sensation it purports to produce.

Other drugs commonly seen at raves include: gamma hydroxybutyric acid (GHB), heroin, RohypnolÓ, Ketamine, marijuana, cocaine, LSD, amphetamines / methamphetamine, herbals, alcohol, caffeine and nitrous oxide.
