Why Choose Us?
Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center has one of the busiest pediatric emergency departments in the United States, with approximately 84,000 visits in fiscal year 2000 to the main campus. In anticipation of changes in healthcare, we have continued to reach out to the community to fill the needs of acute ill or injured children with programs opening in the coming year at Outpatient Services -- Anderson.
Emergency Services offers 24-hour on-site emergency medical coverage, 24-hour multidisciplinary trauma team coverage and 24-hour consultation with all surgical and medical subspecialties.
Educational programs are offered to Emergency Medical Services (EMS) squads and other providers, providing expertise in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Pediatric Education for Prehospital Professionals (PEPP), Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC), physical and sexual abuse, and toxicology.
To help meet the needs of acutely ill or injured children, Cincinnati Children's is involved in many community outreach efforts.
To achieve its mission, the goals set forth by Emergency Services are:
- To provide a high quality, efficient, and cost effective service to all children requiring emergency care at Cincinnati Children's and the regional community
- To provide pediatric emergency education for patients, families, and healthcare providers
- To conduct focused research in pediatric emergency medicine
- To establish strong ties to our community as advocates for children's health.
