Endocrine Hematology/ Oncology (HEM/ONC) Program

What is Endocrine Hematology/ Oncology (HEM/ONC) Program?

The Endocrine Hem/Onc program at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center is a specialty service for patients who have been treated for cancer. Your child's treatments (chemotherapy, radiation, bone marrow transplant, and steroid therapy) can affect how the endocrine glands work.

The endocrinologist will watch for changes like diabetes, slow growth, low thyroid function, early or late puberty, weight gain, and low bone mineral. Treating problems early will help your child have the best health outcome.

The endocrine team will suggest a plan of care based on your child's exam and testing. Clinic appointments are scheduled on A5South on Thursday mornings as a part of your child's Hematology/ Oncology visit.
