Every Child Succeeds

Funding

Every Child Succeeds is regional program designed to ensure an optimal start for children

Every Child Succeeds is made possible through the generous support of many financial partners. Approximately 60 percent of funding comes from public sources through participation in the Ohio Help Me Grow and Kentucky HANDS programs. In Ohio, sources of public funding include Temporary Assistance to Needy Families; Part C; and General Revenue Funds. These funds are provided by the county Family and Children First Councils and the Hamilton County Department of Jobs and Family Services. In Kentucky, sources of public funds include Medicaid and Tobacco Settlement dollars, provided by the Northern Kentucky Department of Public Health District.

Funding from private sources composes 40 percent of Every Child Succeeds' budget. The United Way of Greater Cincinnati contribution of $2.5 million represents the largest component of these funds. Other sources include Butler County United Way and numerous individual and corporate donations.

Charitable contributions make a tremendous impact in the lives of mothers and families, who receive the program's services at no charge. When you support Every Child Succeeds, you make it possible for more mothers to provide a healthy, nurturing home for their children. Current funding allows the program to reach only about 28 percent of eligible families system wide (and 20 percent in Hamilton County), the waiting list is usually more than 100 families. Additional funding would enable Every Child Succeeds to reach more families in Southwest Ohio and Northern Kentucky. Every Child Succeeds is a 501(c)3 organization, and all gifts are tax deductible.

Active Program Grants

The following active program grants help Every Child Succeeds fulfill its mission to children and their families.

  • Literacy Begins at Home
Dater Foundation and Toyota Engineering and Manufacturing North America
Over the next three years, Every Child Succeeds will develop, pilot and evaluate literacy materials and curricula specifically targeting children from birth to three years old. Home visitors will share these with Every Child Succeeds families, who will benefit from this enhanced intervention designed to better prepare their children for school. When the effectiveness of the materials and the strategies has been validated, both could be made available to families with children 0-3 outside of the ECS program. Literacy Begins at Home is being developed in partnership with the National Center for Family Literacy, Louisville, Ky.
  • Parental Information and Resource Center (PIRC)
United Way of Greater Cincinnati/Ohio Department of Education
As part of an effort to prepare more children for school, this grant enables Every Child Succeeds to provide the Parents as Teachers curriculum to more families in Ohio. The Parents as Teachers organization targets young teen mothers, helping them capture teachable moments in everyday life to enhance their child's development, intellectual growth, social development and motor skills.
  • CareSource
This grant helps Every Child Succeeds validates the effectiveness of the case management model in serving more young teen mothers enrolled in CareSource, a Medicaid insurance provider. Possible outcomes include reduced health care costs and improved parenting skills.
