General and Community Pediatrics Research

General and Community Pediatrics.

Research is another dynamic part of the General and Community Pediatrics Division at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.

In primary care, the General and Community Pediatrics Division is one of the top-funded Divisions in the United States and includes the Children's Environmental Health Center and the Cincinnati Pediatric Research Group / CPRG, a community-based research network.

The Division also has one of the few, nationally recognized Research Fellowship Training Programs in General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine.

The General and Community Pediatrics Division's faculty is well-funded and conducts research on a wide variety of primary care topics including:

  • Calcium and bone metabolism
  • Maternal and child health
  • School-based health
  • Asthma, lead and environmental health
  • Neuro-toxicity and behavioral health
  • Health disparities of minorities
  • Breast-feeding of multiples

In addition to hospital-based faculty, the Cincinnati Pediatric Research Group investigates issues related to pediatric primary care. They are currently doing research on asthma, obesity and the development of a biological surveillance system.
