Overview
The Generalist Inpatient Service (GIS) is the pediatric hospitalist service of Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. GIS provides inpatient care for general pediatric conditions and is designed to assist community pediatricians and family practice physicians when their patients are hospitalized.
Lead by Michael T.Vossmeyer, MD, GIS physicians are members of the Division of General and Community Pediatrics. The GIS team is dedicated to providing the safest, highest quality care to children and families. Committed to using evidenced-based medicine delivered in a family centered environment, GIS hospitalists believe that families are best served by fully involving them in the medical care decision process. This includes:
- Rounding in patient rooms
- Open discussions
- Joint decision making with families about care
