Surgeon-in-chief, Richard G. Azizkhan, MD, heads the General and Thoracic Surgery Division at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. The surgical team is made up of:
- Thirteen board-certified pediatric surgeons
- Cadre of surgical and pediatric physician trainees
- Three nurse practitioners skilled in pre- and postoperative surgical care

Level 1 Trauma Program
The division's pediatric trauma program is designated by the American College of Surgeons as a level-1 program. The trauma team provides and coordinates comprehensive care for traumatically injured children, assuring their physical and emotional rehabilitation.

The General and Thoracic Surgery Division at Cincinnati Children's is dedicated to providing comprehensive, compassionate and respectful care to every patient and family. Our team of experts offers individualized care and attention. Plus, on-site facilities such as the Family Resource Center provide personal, comprehensive, up-to-date assistance. The Family Resource Center staff offers the most current information in response to questions related to diagnoses, medical conditions or procedures.
