The Division of General and Thoracic Surgery is involved in several corporate relationships that benefit both children and the community. Together these relationships support and enhance the development of clinical research and enable ongoing comprehensive injury prevention programs.
Ethicon Endo-Surgery, Inc
Our relationship with Ethicon Endo-Surgery, Inc and the Endo-Surgery Institute of Cincinnati focuses on the application of new technologies for use in pediatric minimally invasive surgery.
Meijer Department Store
A grant from Meijer Department Store funds a Bicycle Safety Program designed to address the increasing number of bicycle injuries in recent years, many of which are head injuries that result in death. Working collaboratively with staff in the Trauma Program, Meijer also makes educational videos and equipment such as helmets available to the public. Other collaborative efforts of trauma staff and a number of community-based resources in the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area are aimed at increasing the number of children wearing bicycle helmets and encouraging bicycle safety though legislation and the development of child-friendly bicycle paths and lanes.
