The Division of Human Genetics at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center provides comprehensive clinical management and diagnostic services to patients and families affected with:

  • Inherited disorders
  • Birth defects
  • Chromosome disorders
  • Inborn errors of metabolism
  • Lysosomal storage disease
  • Mental retardation

The Human Genetics Division participates in the Regional Genetics Network of the Ohio Department of Health.

Board-certified genetic physicians, counselors, and advanced practice nurses provide patients and families with an in-depth understanding of the genetic basis and recurrence risks of genetic disorders, and also provide available supportive and specific therapies.

Multidisciplinary teams develop and implement individualized care programs for the complex medical / psychosocial problems confronting families affected by or at-risk for inherited syndromes or families who are genetically susceptible to development of diseases.

Mission

The Division of Human Genetics at Cincinnati Children's has clinical, teaching and research goals directed to the immediate and long-term provision of state-of-the-art medical care and treatment of individuals and families afflicted with heritable disorders.
