The Heart Institute at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center – a fully integrated cardiac institute for children – is nationally recognized for advancing the fields of pediatric cardiology and cardiac surgery by designing a program that:
- Fosters clinical expertise
- Transforms research initiatives
- Provides educational opportunities for fellows, residents and specialists.
Uniquely, the Heart Institute encompasses a group of researchers dedicated to finding novel therapeutic treatments for pediatric and adolescent heart disease using state-of-the-art molecular techniques.
Cutting-Edge Medicine
The Heart Institute merges the diverse disciplines of basic molecular research, clinical care, clinical and translational research, education, operations and outcomes improvement. This cutting-edge approach drives the exchange of information from bench to bedside, and facilitates each discipline’s ability to respond to the other. The result is world-class pediatric heart care.
The Heart Institute team has pioneered many advances in pediatric cardiology, including numerous transcatheter (non-surgical) interventional therapies, echocardiography of complex cardiac malformations, and the evaluation of cardiac disease during exercise stress.
We are one of only a handful of centers nationwide to offer a dedicated Preventive Cardiology clinic for childhood hypertension, lipid disorders and obesity. By providing coordinated care between specialists in exercise, nutrition, psychology and cardiology we can impact the diet, physical activity and behavior of our patients most at-risk for cardiac problems like heart disease.
