Dear Family and Friends

The faculty, staff and leadership of the Heart Institute at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center are honored to partner with you in the care of your precious child. We are very aware that having a child with a heart problem can be an incredibly challenging experience. Many families over the years have shared that it is most helpful when information about a child's diagnosis and care is presented in a straightforward, organized manner.

Our objective in creating this handbook is to provide a resource to help you organize what you learn about the many aspects of your child's cardiac care at Cincinnati Children's. It also can be a tool to make it easier for you to keep an up-to-date journal of your child's medical history. We'd like you to bring this handbook with you to your child's appointments, tests and procedures. We will review the information you have been keeping between visits and will provide additional information as needed and appropriate.

The Heart Institute's mission is to is dedicated to serving the cardiac care needs of patients – fetus through young adult – and their families in a convenient, compassionate and high-quality manner.
