Electrophysiology Program
The Electrophysiology Program – an integral part of the Heart Institute at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center – focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias in children and adults born with congenital heart disease.
A Midwest leader in treating arrhythmias, the Electrophysiology Program has the latest technologies and a dedicated team to correctly diagnose and treat the complex symptoms associated with arrhythmias.
Integrated Treatment
The Electrophysiology Program provides comprehensive non-invasive and invasive services:
Treatment can include:
- Insertion of a pacemaker, a small, battery-powered medical device designed to electrically stimulate the heart muscle in an effort to restore a more normal heart rhythm
- Implanted cardioverter defibrillators
- Leading-edge surgical techniques such as cryothermal catheter ablation
Experienced Team
The Electrophysiology Program annually performs:
Non-invasive evaluations
- 20,392 surface electrocardiograms
- 555 ambulatory electrocardiograms
- 345 cardiac event recorders a year
- 378 trans-telephonic and 394 in office pacemaker assessments
- 23 tilt table autonomic evaluations
Invasive evaluations and treatments
- 70 cardiac catheter ablation procedures
- 103 cardiac electrophysiology studies
- 34 cardiac pacemaker implants
