Fetal Heart Services
The Fetal Heart Program at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center partners with the Fetal Care Center of Cincinnati to provide state-of-the-art care to the fetus diagnosed with heart disease.
The Fetal Heart Program, directed by Erik Michelfelder, MD, is part of the Heart Institute at Cincinnati Children's and is able to detect many types of heart defects early in pregnancy with the goal of providing exemplary care to the fetus diagnosed with structural or functional heart disease.
Comprehensive Approach
Using an interdisciplinary approach, families have access to comprehensive care, including:
- Cardiac imaging (fetal echocardiography)
- Consultation with a fetal cardiologist and cardiothoracic surgeons
- Education
- Counseling
- Support services such as cardiovascular genetic counseling and social services
