Heart Clinical Care Programs

Electrophysiology Program

The Electrophysiology Program, part of the interdisciplinary Heart Center at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias. This program provides comprehensive noninvasive and invasive pediatric electrophysiologic service and is currently involved in several multi-center pediatric catheter ablation trials.

Non-invasive evaluations include:

  • 16,899 surface electrocardiograms a year;
  • 630 ambulatory electrocardiograms a year;
  • 437 cardiac event recorders a year;
  • 354 trans-telephonic and 445 in office pacemaker assessments a year; and
  • 33 tilt table autonomic evaluations a year.

Full disclosure evaluation of multi-lead electrocardiographic recordings are available. Invasive evaluations include electrophysiology studies and radio frequency ablations. Implanted loop recorders are another form of invasive evaluation performed at the Heart Center.  Treatment in the form of implanted devices is also performed with cardiac pacemakers and implanted cardioverter defibrillators.
