Hypertension Clinic

The Hypertension Clinic, part of the interdisciplinary Heart Center at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center offers comprehensive services, including consultation, diagnostic testing, and treatment of hypertension.

Each new patient is assigned to one of the registered nurses, who is responsible for following all aspects of the patient's care closely.

Among the services offered are:

  • Ambulatory 24-hour blood pressure monitoring (similar to Holter monitoring) with interpretation of results; blood pressure is monitored at preset intervals for 24 hours
  • Screening for co-existing lipid abnormalities, smoking, drinking, and drug habits
  • Nutritional education to teach families how to reduce dietary sodium
  • Refresher courses in blood pressure measurement for office staff

Courses are taught by the registered nurses from the Cincinnati Children's Hypertension Clinic and are offered at the hospital or in your office.
