Karl and Maggie Gieseke have given generously of their time and talents to the IAC. The Giesekes knew they wanted to add to their family and felt that adoption was a positive way to do so. Karl and Maggie have five children: Anna, Mary, Lillian, Jamie and Henry. Jamie and Henry were adopted from Guatemala.
Karl and Maggie volunteer with the IAC for many reasons. "There are so many children who are desperately longing for parents and the IAC is vital in helping to connect those waiting children to adoptive parents and build strong families," Maggie says. "Dr. Staat and her staff provide sound advice and assistance to adoptive parents and Karl and I are thrilled to help support such a mission." All of the Gieseke children love being a part of the adoptive community and have made strong friendships with those who also have a heart for adoption.
In addition to serving on the IAC Advisory Board, Maggie is also in the final stages of putting together a book of photos and essays of Greater Cincinnati area families who have created forever families through international adoption. One hundred percent of the book's proceeds will benefit the IAC and other international adoption organizations. As soon as the book is released, the IAC will let families know when it is available.
Thanks to the dedication of volunteers like Karl and Maggie, the IAC can continue to provide services to families brought together by international adoption.
