In October 1987, Herman and Clare Rumpke adopted daughter ERICA who was born in Tokyo, Japan, where Herman and Clare were living at the time. A younger brother followed with the birth of Nick. Erica is now a freshman at Loyola University in Chicago. She has a double major of English and Sociology/Anthropology and is in the honors program. She is the fiction editor for the Loyola literary magazine and has a black belt in Tai Kwan Do. She has made her parents very proud!
