Interventional Radiology at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center offers minimally invasive alternatives to some open surgical procedures. We perform over 3,500 cases, annually. The Interventional Radiologist uses image guidance such as ultrasound, fluoroscopy and CT to perform minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

Due to increasing volume, we have recently added a third state-of-the-art interventional suite. We perform a broad range of procedures, including:

Interventional Radiology also offers trans-arterial embolization of angiomyolipomas for patients with tuberous sclerosis.

Patients with vascular or lymphatic malformations are evaluated by our multidisciplinary clinic and may be a candidate for direct sclerosing or embolization.

Our Team

Our team consists of a dedicated staff of four rotating interventional radiologists, four dedicated interventional nurses, two interventional nurse practitioners, seven interventional technologists and two clinical support assistants.

Interventional Radiology is actively involved in research projects including:

Facilities and Equipment

Interventional Radiology at Cincinnati Children's is located in Location A, third floor, adjacent to perioperative services. Our new state-of-the-art equipment features both a Philips FD 20 Single Plane Integris Allura single and bi-plane interventional suites. This pediatric national show site offers:

  • New dose-lowering technologies
  • 3-D rotational angiography / XperCT and XperGuide 
  • Advanced digital imaging
  • Full PACS integration
  • Tilt-table
