      Continuous Care

Children with progressive kidney disease can be cared for by the same nephrology and surgery team through their illness, on dialysis, and following transplantation.

      Multidisciplinary Team Approach

      • Nephrology physicians believe that a team approach to diagnosis and management of kidney disorders improves outcome. The primary care physician and parents are considered to be part of the team and both should expect to receive the results of all laboratory and X-ray tests.
      • Of special importance is the availability of experts in pediatric radiology, pediatric urology, vascular and transplant surgery and pediatric renal pathology to assist with diagnosis and management. Specialists in all areas of pediatric medicine and surgery are available, if needed.
      • Total care of the child is important to us. Renal and dialysis nurses, a dedicated dietitian with expertise in nutritional problems common to childhood kidney disease and a renal social worker with expertise in children's kidney disease are part of your child's team.
