Educational activities headed by the Center for Breastfeeding Medicine include the development of clinical competencies for all members of the health care team at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. Following training, the aim is that nurses, doctors, dietitians and other staff members will be comfortable helping mothers with basic breastfeeding management issues.

Trained lactation experts are also available by phone to serve as a resource for medical professionals and community healthcare providers when lactation problems arise.
