Quality of Life

As of December 2006, 72% of families considered their child's perceived quality of life "Excellent" or "Very Good."

Every liver transplant patient of the Pediatric Liver Care Center at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center has an annual post-transplant follow-up visit. During these annual visits, the Liver Care Center team asks each patient and caregiver to rate their child's perceived quality of life.

Rating Scale

Patients and families rate the transplant recipient's quality of life using the following scale:

  • Excellent
  • Very Good
  • Good
  • Fair
  • Poor

In deciding on their rating, families consider things such as how the child's is functioning in school.
