Patients Retransplanted
Several factors can lead to liver retransplantation, including:
- Child's body rejects its new organ
- Newly transplanted organ fails
- Infections or biliary complications that don't respond to treatment
Rarely, children may require multiple (more than two) liver transplants.

The first liver transplant may not have been done in the same year as the liver retransplantation.
