Technical Variant Liver Transplant Donors
The Liver Care Center team at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center performs whole liver transplantation and technical variant liver transplantation. Reduced liver transplants involve using only a piece, or segment, of a whole liver. For split liver transplants, the liver from someone who has died is separated into two equal halves. If that adult liver is a good match for two children on the waiting list, this allows for each part to be transplanted.
