Our Purpose
The purpose of the Cincinnati STAR Center for Lysosomal Diseases at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center is to:
- Provide excellent care to all patients with lysosomal storage disorders, including both children and adults
- Accurately diagnose lysosomal storage diseases
- Provide patients with access to physicians who are experts in lysosomal storage diseases
- Provide accurate disease information to patients and their families
- Coordinate testing for at-risk family members of affected individuals
- Provide on-going comprehensive disease management
- Coordinate treatments and therapies both locally and in the patient's home region
- Educate the patient, family and primary care physician regarding medical management and treatment of lysosomal diseases
- Provide information and access to research studies of interest to patients and their families
- Conduct world-class, state-of-the-art basic and clinical research on lysosomal diseases
