Team of Experts
The Laboratory, under the direction of Kejian Zhang, MD, MBA, is staffed by a team of experts who provide guidance in:
- Test selection
- Clinical interpretations
- Recommendations for genetic counseling
- Coordination of studies for at-risk family members
A unique feature of the Laboratory is that interpretations of results are written in conjunction with nationally recognized clinical experts. These experts review pertinent clinical data, in addition to the results of the molecular analysis, in order to provide clinically relevant interpretations and recommendations for management of patient care.
Diagnostic Center for Heritable Immunodeficiencies
The Diagnostic Center for Heritable Immunodeficiencies has been designated a FOCIS Center of Excellence by the Federation of Clinical Immunology Societies in recognition of its interdisciplinary immunologic research, education, diagnostic capabilities and world-renowned patient care.
The experts in the Ear and Hearing Center use molecular testing to detect the etiology of hearing loss and even to prevent hearing loss in some cases. Exciting research in the Center involves:
- Identifying new genes that cause hearing loss
- Documenting cost-effective means of determining the etiology of hearing loss
- Developing innovative ways of presenting complex genetic information to physicians and families
The Genetic Pharmacology Service offers a highly innovative multidisciplinary approach to the prevention of drug interactions and is one of the few such services in the country.
