Expertise and Support for Complex Motility Disorders
Nationally Recognized Expertise
Cincinnati Children’s is ranked among the best children’s hospitals in the nation by U.S. News & World Report for more than 15 years. Our specialists care for some of the most complex pediatric motility disorders, including conditions many hospitals rarely treat.
Families come to our center from across the country and internationally for advanced evaluations, second opinions and specialized treatment plans. Nearly 70% of our new patients are seeking a second opinion.
Advanced Testing and Treatments
Our center offers cutting-edge diagnostic testing and therapies for digestive motility disorders. These services include high resolution manometry testing, EndoFLIP technology, percutaneous electrical nerve field stimulation (with IB-Stim) and advanced treatment plans for constipation, gastroparesis and pseudo-obstruction.
Our specialists also work closely with experts in the Colorectal Center, Intestinal Rehabilitation Program, Aerodigestive Clinic, nutrition, occupational, physical and speech therapy services and social work. This team-based approach helps us care for the whole child, not just one symptom.
Personalized Care for Every Child
Every child receives a personalized care plan based on their symptoms, diagnosis and daily needs. We know digestive conditions can affect school, nutrition, sleep and emotional well-being. That is why we build comprehensive care plans around your child and family.
Our providers and nurses guide families through each step of care. We explain testing clearly, answer questions and help families feel supported throughout treatment.
Coordinated Support for Traveling Families
Many families travel long distances for care at our center. Our dedicated intake coordinator gathers medical records, imaging and test results before your visit so our team can review everything ahead of time.
We also offer telehealth visits when appropriate to improve access and reduce travel demands for families. Our care team works closely with referring physicians and local providers to help keep care coordinated closer to home whenever possible.
Research Focused on Better Outcomes
Our specialists continue to advance care through research and multicenter collaborations focused on digestive motility disorders and disorders of gut-brain interaction. This work helps improve testing, treatments and long-term outcomes for children with complex digestive conditions.
As research leads to new approaches, our patients may have access to innovative therapies not widely available at other pediatric centers.
