The Division of Neonatology at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center operates one of the largest, most comprehensive and sophisticated programs of care for newborns in the United States.

The division provides coverage and medical leadership for all three neonatal intensive care units in Cincinnati, seven Level II special care nurseries as well as providing care for more than 13,000 normal newborns annually in 9 area hospitals.

The Regional Center for Newborn Intensive Care (RCNIC) at Cincinnati Children's provides some of the most complex care available in newborn intensive care units in the country. High risk follow-up care is provided to graduates of all our NICU's by a divisional developmental team.

The division also works collaboratively with obstetricians and pediatricians in the community to significantly decrease neonatal mortality in the region.

Fetal Care Center

The Division of Neonatology faculty are an integral part of the Fetal Care Center, a collaborative program that provides prenatal testing, diagnosis and intervention for complex fetal conditions / diagnoses. The Fetal Care Center is a collaboration between perinatology, neonatology, pediatric surgery and other pediatric subspecialties.

Research

Cincinnati Children's is one of the 16 sites for the NICHD Neonatal Research Network, internationally recognized for findings that have led to significant advances in the clinical care of patients. 

The division also participates in the Vermont Oxford Network, measuring comparative clinical outcomes internationally to benchmark common morbidities of prematurity with 400 NICUs in 23 countries.

The faculty of the Division of Neonatology includes physician-scientists internationally recognized for research findings that have led to significant advances in the clinical care of patients.
