Transplant Team
In addition to you and your family, your transplant team is made up of doctors, nurses, social workers, dieticians, and others who are specially trained to meet the unique needs of transplant patients. This team will be with you before, during and after the transplantation.

Transplant Team Members
- Nephrologist
- Your nephrologist specializes in the treatment of kidney disease and will manage the medical aspects of your care before, during, and after transplantation.
- Transplant Surgeon
- Your transplant surgeon performs your child's transplant.
- Transplant Coordinator
- This registered nurse is responsible for coordinating all the events necessary for your child's transplant to occur.
- Dietician
- Your registered dietician will provide specific nutritional information to meet your individual needs both before and after the transplant.
- Social Worker
- Your social worker will help your child with many of the "social" aspects of the transplant such as providing information about Medicare, disability insurance, and other potential sources of financial assistance.
- Financial Counselor
- This person will review your medical insurance coverage and obtain insurance authorization for the transplant once the evaluation process for your child and the donor has been completed.
- Pharmacist
- Because your child's medications are so important to the success of the transplant, you should identify the pharmacy where you will get your child's medications before the transplant occurs.
