Overview
The Neurology Department at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center receives children for neuropsychological evaluation to assess the effect of diagnosed or suspected neurological disease or developmental disorders on their cognition and behavior.
Such evaluation includes the assessment of general intellectual functioning, academic achievement, language, visual-perceptual and visual-constructional skills, attention and memory, problem-solving, motor and sensory function, and behavior.
The results are used by the referring physician in characterizing the child's disorder and in making recommendations for intervention, particularly in the school setting.
