Bio

Robert B. North Jr., DO, MBA, FACS, is a member of the Ophthalmology Division at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. Originally from New Orleans, he is a graduate of Northeast Louisiana University College of Pharmacy. He received his medical degree from the Kansas City Univeristy of Medicine and Biosciences in 1975. After completing a pediatric internship at Louisiana State University in Shreveport, Louisiana, he entered the United States Navy. He completed a Pediatric Residency at the National Naval Medical Center in Washington, DC, in 1980 and an Ophthalmology Residency at Naval Regional Medical Center in Oakland, CA, in 1986. Sursequently he completed a Pediatric Ophthalmology Fellowship at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Oregon in 1989. He was awarded an MBA in 1998 from Lake Forest Graduate School of Management.

He is a Fellow of the:

  • American Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus

He is also a past Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine, and holds memberships in multiple state pediatric and ophthalmic socities.

Dr. North has published articles in both pediatric and ophthalmology clinical literature, and is a Section Editor in a book published by the Borden Institute At Walter Reed Army Medical Center on "Recruit Medicine." He has a strong interest in strabismus, retinopathy of prematurity.

Dr. North has served in the United States Navy with distinction receiving multiple Meritorious Service Awards, subsequently retiring at the rank of CAPTAIN in 2004.
