Research

Our program participates in national and international research in an effort to provide the best care for children worldwide. Some examples of current efforts include:

  • An international study to examine outcomes when different approaches are used to correct spinal disorders in children (six pediatric hospitals involved worldwide)
  • A study to determine the effectiveness of posterior and anterior surgical techniques that are used to correct spinal deformities
  • A multi-institutional appraisal of brace treatment for spinal deformities
  • Pre-clinical research on spinal column modulation of scoliosis in young patients
  • Analysis of the growth plate mechanisms in scoliosis

Education

As a worldwide leader in the treatment of spinal disorders, education is a priority of our team. Our experts offer educational seminars and community-based lectures for health care professionals and families. Medical fellows from this country and abroad also are trained at the center in clinical and surgical management of pediatric spinal disorders.
