Because of the breadth of rehabilitation services offered in one location, numerous therapists and specialists can easily maintain the constant communication and coordinated efforts necessary for a strong interdisciplinary approach. Therapists in various disciplines work together to reinforce each patient's skills and abilities, making adjustments to the plan of care to maximize the child's potential. Progress is easier to track throughout the continuum of care, making programs more cost effective and convenient.

Because the outpatient services are an extension of Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, patients have a seamless transition from in-patient stays to continued outpatient therapy. Children's Outpatient Services at Drake Center also offers a convenient transition for patients from other health care facilities.

About the Team - The Expertise to Make a Difference

All Cincinnati Children's professionals from physical therapy. occupational therapy and speech pathology are certified, licensed and have specialized training in pediatrics. With the addition of many years of experience, these helath care providers are skilled to work as a team and develop a program customized to each child.

  • Aquatic therapy - This unique ware-water therapy allows licensed occupational therapists or physical therapists to rpovide specialized treatement that encourages relaxation and therapeutice effects in a less strenuous environment for patients.
  • Occupational therapy - Therapists help each patient strengtehn motor skills needed to complete specific tasks, as customized programs center around purposeful activities and daily living skills, such as feeding, dressing, fine motor skills, cognition and play.
  • Physical therapy - Therapists develop a customized program of age-appropriate techniques, therapeutic exercises and mobility training to strengthern the gross motor skills, confidence and emotional strengths of each patient
  • Speech pathology - As part of one of the largest pediatric speech pathology programs in the nation, specialists in all areas of communciation, feeding and swallowing disorders use a variety of techniques and technological tools to deliver therapy customized to each child.
