At Cincinnati Children's Outpatient Drake Center, patients, families and physicians find a new level of pediatric therapy and rehabilitative care. As Cincinnati's first full-service, rehabilitation center focused solely on pediatrics, this specialized program offers customized, convenient care. We have designed a state-of-the-art facility for all ages (infants through adolescents). Each aspect of our program is designed to handle the high-intensity therapy need and specialized rehabilitation services for these unique populations.
For some patients, services at this center are a transition to the next step in healing. For others, it represents a new experience in top-level rehabilitative care. For all, the specialized services in our outpatient rehabilitation program offer a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary system of rehabilitative care delivered in the convenience of a single facility.
Sports Medicine Biodynamics Center
As part of the Sports Medicine Biodynamics Center, the
first center of its kind in the city, our sports physical therapists work with physicians and other specialists to optimize your child's participation in sports. Our sports physical therapists have expertise in sports medicine and understand the unique needs of the young athlete.
We help young athletes get back in the game quickly and safely following an injury. And we can help educate parents and their children on what can be done to prevent recurring injuries. Therapeutic exercises and training are used to increase endurance, muscle strength, muscle flexibility and range of motion.
Aquatic Therapy Program
Aquatic therapy is offered at Cincinnati Children's Outpatient Drake Center. It is the first program of its kind for Cincinnati Children's. Aquatic therapy combines the benefits of physical therapy and occupational therapy with the advantages of warm-water exercise. Working in the warm-water environment, patients discover a freedom of movement that allows them to progress and accomplish much more than they often can in land-based therapy. Warm water lessens the effects of gravity and reduces body weight up to 90 percent, encouraging relaxation and reducing the dangers of overexertion.
