Hand and Upper Extremity Therapy Program

Overview

The first program of its kind for Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, the Hand and Upper Extremity Therapy Program is a specialty area of practice offered by the Division of Occupational and Physical Therapy. Occupational therapists and physical therapists who practice in hand therapy have undergone extensive training to develop the skills specific to rehabilitating disorders affecting the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand.

Cincinnati Children's therapists practicing in hand therapy work collaboratively with referring physicians and families to determine the optimal plan of care for restoring function of the affected upper extremity of children, adolescents and young adults.

A Family-Centered Focus

Because children rely on those closest to them for support, a family focus is at the center of all hand therapy. We encourage involvement in therapy sessions and support of loved ones to further aid each child's success.
