Eclectic Approach

Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center psychiatrists utilize an eclectic approach to treatment, including individual and family therapy, as well as the latest pharmacotherapy.

Family participation is critical to your child's treatment success. Family therapy sessions help family members better understand behavior, psychiatric diagnosis and how to cope, learn to care for and support the child with mental health challenges.

Our staff makes communication with families a priority. Ongoing communication will occur throughout the course of treatment. Our staff will also collaborate with others involved in a child's care, such as mental health providers, community agencies and family doctor.

Team of Experts

Cincinnati Children's is known for the quality of clinical care provided and the reputation of our psychiatrists, social workers, advanced practice nurses and other experienced staff. They are specially trained in the care of children and adolescents.

All psychiatrists in the Division of Psychiatry are board certified in general and child adolescent psychiatry. Services include:

  • Comprehensive treatment facility, offering a structured environment, one 12-bed Child Psychiatry / Adolescent Psychiatry and Acute Crisis Unit, and two 12-bed hospital units for extended / residential care

Residential Treatment Facility / Extended Care Program

The Divison of Psychiatry at Cincinnati Children's offers a non-traditional residential treatment program called the Hospital Extended Care Program. This extended hospitalization program provides intensive medical, nursing and psychiatric services that are not found in traditional residential treatment facilities.

Telemedicine Capability

Cincinnati Children's is willing to partner and collaborate with other providers to utilize Teleconferencing Technology whenever possible.

We will work diligently to interface between remote locations and our College Hill facility through their information technology departments.

Family-Centered Care

Our diverse staff is skilled at providing age-appropriate care in a family-centered environment. Plus, on-site facilities such as the Family Resource Center provide personal, comprehensive, up-to-date assistance. The Family Resource Center staff offers the most current information in response to questions related to diagnoses, medical conditions or procedures. If you would like assistance working with your child's school, the Family Resource Center can also help.
