Overview

The Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center Department of Psychiatry offers assessment, diagnosis and both inpatient and outpatient treatment of behavioral, emotional, and developmental disorders in children and adolescents.

The psychiatrists utilize an eclectic approach to treatment, including individual and family therapy, as well as the latest pharmacotherapy.

Our services include:

All psychiatrists are board certified in general and child adolescent psychiatry.

The division is also dedicated to providing research that will help to serve the mental health needs of infants, children, adolescents and their families.

MindPeace

MindPeace --  a project of the Junior League of Cincinnati in collaboration with Cincinnati Children's -- is working with community members to significantly improve the mental wellness of children in the Greater Cincinnati Area.

The MindPeace web site provides information on children's mental health, including education, resources, support groups, and events in the Greater Cincinnati area.

Mental Health Issues In the News

Families of children with mental illness face many challenges, such as insurance caps with private insurance and lack of treatment options. The Child Psychiatry Division at Cincinnati Children's offers the following link to the news series recently featured in The Cincinnati Enquirer:

Inpatient Visiting Hours

Inpatient visiting hours for the psychiatry treatment units at Cincinnati Children's are as follows:

  • 6:30 am - 7:30 pm Monday through Friday
  • 12:30 - 2:30 pm weekends and holidays
