Ohio Leaders
Many leaders in Ohio have come out in support of Bicycle Helmet Legislation.
Brecksville, Ohio | Shaker Heights, Ohio"As safety director, I felt that from the information that I was receiving from various members of the community there was a need for the council to make this [bicycle helmet legislation] a mandatory requirement under the law. We [adults] think that we can ride a bike and do very well on it. Young children do not have the experience adults do and they don't realize what the consequences are if they fall off their bike and strike their head."
Jerry N. Hruby, Mayor
City of Brecksville, Ohio
City-wide, under eighteen, 1998
"[Bicycle helmet legislation] is an attempt to prevent injury and to promote safety by bringing to the public's attention the need to wear bicycle helmets not only on a bicycle, but to have a helmet for other high risk activities that could result in injury or death."
Dennis Kancler, Police ChiefCity of Brecksville, OhioCity-wide, under eighteen, 1998
