'Clash of the Choirs' Benefits the RCNIC and Transport Team

The city of Cincinnati and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center received a wonderful holiday gift when Nick Lachey and his choir won the "Clash of the Choirs" competition which was broadcast on NBC and produced by BBC. Millions of viewers across the country watched as Cincinnati native Lachey and his hometown choir sang their way to victory. The competition, which consisted of five amateur choirs led by celebrities Lachey, Michael Bolton, Patti LaBelle, Kelly Rowland and Blake Shelton, was broadcast during prime time over four nights, beginning Monday, December 17, through Thursday, December 20.

Each choir competed for a prize of $250,000 to benefit a charity in their hometown. Lachey chose Cincinnati Children's to benefit if he and his team won. The winner was determined by viewers who could register their votes via phone and/or the NBC web site. Though the voting was close, Cincinnati viewers really came through in support of their own.

The prize money will go toward the purchase of Giraffe beds in the Regional Center for Newborn Intensive Care (RCNIC) and isolettes for the Transport Team.

Many thanks to Nick for selecting Cincinnati Children's as the choir's designated charity and especially to the talented performers for their efforts on behalf of the medical center.
