Regional Center for Newborn Intensive Care (RCNIC)

Mission

We shall create an atmosphere of trust for families and infants in the RINIC.

The mission statement of the Regional Center for Newborn Intensive Care (RCNIC) at Children's Hospital Medical Center of Cincinnati is:

We shall create an atmosphere of trust for families and infants in the RCNIC, by utilizing a Family Centered model of care on our unit. In order to achieve our mission, a partnership shall be formed between the families and our multidisciplinary clinical team. This commitment between both parties will promote mutual respect and recognition of the significant contributions each family member and clinical team member brings to the care of babies.

The model of care in the RCNIC places the baby at the center of care, surrounded by the family, and supported by the clinical team functioning in an open and trusting environment. Families and staff will partner to create an individual plan of care for their baby that recognizes their special needs and unique cultural differences. All actions of all members of the partnership shall demonstrate acceptance of and honor the values expressed in the RCNIC's Philosophy of Care.
