Rehabilitation

At Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, the Division of Pediatric Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is committed to the development of children with disabilities to the fullest potential possible while providing guidance and support to their families.

A Cooperative, Team Approach

Your child's treatment is coordinated by our rehabilitation team. A pediatric physiatrist, a physician specializing in pediatric rehabilitation medicine, will be your child's team leader. With your input, the team coordinates a wide range of medical, therapeutic and supportive services for your child in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. This cooperative effort results in a specially designed treatment program for your child and family.

Rehabilitation Inpatient Services

Children requiring inpatient treatment are admitted to the inpatient rehabilitation unit to receive intensive services.

The rehabilitation team includes:

Accredited Rehabilitation Unit

The pediatric rehabilitation unit at Cincinnati Children's is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). The unit is designed to involve families in the rehabilitation process as well as to provide follow-up instruction to community care givers.

Rehabilitation Outpatient Services

Rehabilitation outpatient services offered at Cincinnati Children's general pediatric rehabilitation clinics, specialty clinics and at Drake Center provide care for a wide range of patients with congenital and acquired conditions resulting in childhood disability, from the severely disabled patient to the fully functional patient with musculoskeletal complaints. Evaluation of therapy programs and equipment needs are also managed through the outpatient clinic.
