Cincinnati Children's Financial Services
Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center has financial counselors who, along with the rheumatology social workers, are prepared to help interpret medical bills and to help families apply for financial assistance to help pay for medical services. Some families are without any insurance and some have insurance or other third party payer that may not cover all of the costs. There are different financial assistance programs available to help with the cost of medical care. The financial counselors are available daily from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm on the Mezzanine level of Location B.

They have information about the requirements for several types of assistance programs and will work with families to see if they are eligible. To start the process for financial assistance, there is a simple, one-page form that must be completed and returned with proof of income, such as one of the following:
- Copies of your last two paycheck stubs
- A copy of your state or federal tax returns from last year
- A copy of your unemployment, child support, or alimony check
- A copy of any other official government or income form
In addition, proof of residency is required, such as:
- Gas and electric bill
- Telephone bill
- Cable bill
Once the information is received, the financial counselors will make every effort to find a resource for assistance.
Some of the available assistance programs are:
- Healthy Start / Healthy Families / CHIP, also known as Medicaid
- BCMH (Bureau for Children with Medical Handicaps), Kentucky Commission for Children with Special Healthcare Needs, Hoosier Healthwise
- Ohio Hospital Care Assurance Program
- Hamilton County Tax Levy
- Prescription assistance (Pharmacy)
- Hamilton County Mental Health Access Point
- WIC Program (Women, Infants and Children)
