Bio
Sara Strizzi is a Program Analyst with the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools and the Program Manager for the Department's Emergency Response and Crisis Management (ERCM) grant program which has awarded over 300 grants to public school districts since 2003.
Strizzi is also the Project Manager for Project School Emergency Response to Violence (SERV) grant. Project SERV provides emergency funding to school districts that have experienced a crisis of such magnitude as to severely disrupt the learning environment. In her current position, she also works on a variety of school safety issues, including:
- Hate crimes
- Bullying
- Data collection
Strizzi has also contributed to the development and publication of several widely-distributed publications:
- Preventing Youth Hate Crimes
- Protecting Students from Hate Crime and Harassment
- Early Warning, Timely Response
- Safeguarding Our Children: An Action Guide
- Fight for Your Rights (MTV campaign)
- The Annual Report on School Safety
Most recently, she has served as the Department's representative on a national bullying prevention media campaign, "Take a Stand. Lend a Hand. Stop Bullying Now!"
Strizzi is an advisory board member for the National Center for School Crisis and Bereavement.
