Mission

The mission of the Center for Simulation and Research at Cincinnati Children's is to promote quality patient care.

The mission of the Center for Simulation and Research at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center is to promote quality patient care, enhance patient safety, improve multidisciplinary health care communication and teamwork and advance the field of health care simulation through innovation and research. The work of the center will draw from and positively influence the clinical environment, health care providers and patients.

Vision

The center will be a local, regional and national center of excellence and innovation for health care simulation, education, patient safety and research.

We will achieve this by:

  • Promoting experiential learning using adult learning principles in a safe environment
  • Playing a critical role in shaping patient safety initiatives through the use of national and institutional assessment of needs for simulation-based education. The implementation of simulation-based initiatives will result in improvements in patient care
  • Targeting multi-disciplinary health care teams, helping all members understand their roles and communicate effectively
  • Exercising expertise in curriculum development, execution of simulation-based curricula and evaluation of technical and non-technical skills
  • Establishing local, regional and national partnerships
  • Advancing the field of health care simulation through research and dissemination of our work in relevant local, regional and national forums
  • Achieving national certification in simulation through the Institute for Simulation in Healthcare
